Roffey vs Keymer & Hassocks
Div 3

K & H sank to their first defeat of the season away to Roffey in Division 3.Early post match reflections suggested that they were simply outplayed by a better side who punished 3 poor defensive errors with 3 well taken goals.

However a more measured consideration puts another perspective on the game noting that K & H took the lead with a well worked move that saw Matt Thomas drive home from just outside the box.Toby Raftery then had an effort cleared off the line before two key incidents.Jo Davey opened up the defence for the best move of the match and crossed to Toby Raftery whose first time drive was goalbound until somehow it was turned round the post-both he and James Emmens following up claimed the last defender had used both hands in making the save and were astounded when the Ref who appeared well placed failed to act. They then lost keeper Craig Jackson who took a very nasty kick to his hand whilst going for a catch at waist height.K & H looked somewhat demoralised for the rest of the game although Robin King earned their MOM award for his efforts as substitute keeper.

In conclusion K & H were proved a little naive  but come out wiser with the resolve to make increasing use of the more subtle arts of the game in future.
