Old Varndeanians II vs Keymer & Hassocks
Division 4

Given the appalling weather conditions Old Varndenians and Keymer & Hassocks contested a game of surprising quality in Div 4 with K & H evntually securing a hard fought 3-0 victory.

K & H won the toss and decided to play with the wind at their backs but a combination of quality defending and inaccurate shooting meant their hosts were rarely troubled and indeed K & H had to defend a number of well constructed attacks.

With the apparent advantage now switching to the hosts OV went on the offensive but with K & H closing down quickly it was their turn to struggle to get a shot on target.Conversely the K & H forwards were finding a bit more room and capitalised when Mike Ridley put Stuart Thompson in to finish from what seemed an impossibly acute angle.Shortly after Thompson crossed for Toby Raftery to drive home from close range.Goal of the game was started by K & H MOM Ian Smith who picked out Jo Davey with an inch perfect pass-he played a smart one two with Raftery before steering the ball home past the advancing keeper.

OV kept going to the end forcing keeper Neil Smith to save smartly and were then unlucky not to register with a effort off the post.
