Keymer & Hassocks

4th October 2008
Cuckfield Town vs Keymer & Hassocks
Div 2

KHFC suffered a defeat at the hands a a resilient Cuckfield Town side although we came away feeling a little unlucky.
We started brightly and were unlucky not to go ahead, hitting the crossbar twice in the first ten minutes. Emmens struck the bar first before Matt Thomas did the same thing, but despite the early pressure Cuckfield’s defence held firm.

Then against the run of play we conceded a goal from a well taken header, although the marking was not particularly good.
The goal seemed to give Cuckfield a big lift and the game was much more competitive from now on.

KHFC had a goal disallowed for offside (probably correctly). Toby Raftery put a shot across the keeper which was going in, until greedy James Emmens tried to steal it; unfortunately he was offside (effectively losing us the game!).

In the 2nd half KHFC continued to pressure the Cuckfield goal but to no avail.

James Harris sliced a shot just wide, Nobby Handford hit the crossbar, Captain Watson had a volley well saved (it's now 6 years since he's scored) and at least one other person hit the woodwork.

After last years result on this pitch it appears we don't have a lot of luck at this place, but full credit to Cuckfield for a very competitive game.
